What a difference a few weeks can make in the Premier League.
Not too long ago, Manchester United and Manchester City were being written off as title contenders.
They were out of the top five and there were rumours swirling about the respective futures of managers Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Pep Guardiola.
Fast-forward to today, however, and we have both Manchester clubs occupying the top two places in the table.
United’s goalless draw with Liverpool leaves them at the summit, two points ahead of City who demolished Crystal Palace 4-0.
City even have a game in hand and could overtake their neighbours if they beat Aston Villa later this week.
Both Manchester clubs are now unbeaten in their last five matches and are well and truly staking their claim to the Premiership title.
This is in stark contrast to Liverpool, who’ve dropped to fourth place after failing to win any of their last four league matches.
The reigning champions have also not scored in three successive games – something that has not happened since 2005.

Even manager Jurgen Klopp is worried, saying he’s now expecting a difficult time making the top four let alone defending their title.
And as if the Manchester clubs are not enough cause for concern, Klopp also has to keep an eye on Leicester, who are currently in third place on a five-match unbeaten run of their own.
Needless to say, all this makes for a very intriguing title race as we enter the second half of the season.
