Man City’s Winning Streak Sets New Record

Despite the congested fixture list and a host of injuries to top players, Man City have been going from strength to strength this season.

Their latest achievement has even earned them a place in the history books.

City’s 3-1 win over Swansea in the FA Cup 5th round was their 15th consecutive win in all competitions.

No other English top-flight club has ever had a winning streak that long.

The previous record of 14 straight wins was first set by Preston in the 1891/1892 season, and was equaled by Arsenal during the 1987/1988 campaign.

Who have they beaten so far?

City’s run started with their Premiership win over Southampton all the way back on December 19th. Since then they’ve beaten Newcastle, Chelsea, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, West Brom, Sheffield United, Burnley and Liverpool in the league…Arsenal and Man United in the EFL Cup…as well as Birmingham, Cheltenham and Swansea in the FA Cup.

If you count drawn matches…City’s record is even more impressive… going 22 games unbeaten.

Personal milestone for Pep

The win over Swansea was also extra special on a personal level for manager Pep Guardiola as it was his 200th win as City boss.

Since joining in the summer of 2016, Guardiola has taken charge of 268 games…winning 200, drawing 31 and losing 37.

More to come from City

City remain in the running to complete the quadruple this season.

They’re currently top of the EPL standings, and are through to the EFL Cup final, FA Cup quarterfinal and last-16 of the Champions League.

Only a brave person would bet against them finishing the season empty-handed.
