Man City’s Impressive Winning Streak Comes To An End

Manchester City’s run of 21 straight wins in all competitions has come to an end.

This, after Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten 2-0 in the Premiership by Man United at the Etihad, with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw securing all three points for the Red Devils.

Prior to this, City had not tasted defeat since their 2-0 loss to Tottenham all the way back in November last year.

Manager Pep Guardiola, however, is taking it all in his stride.

He says rather than dwell on the defeat, City should instead focus on the fact that they had won their last 21 matches and use that as motivation to keep pushing for the title.

Looking at the bigger picture, Guardiola has a point.

Despite the defeat, City are still 11 points clear of United at the top of the Premiership standings with just 10 matches to go this season.

This leaves City overwhelming favourites to go on and win the title for the third time in four seasons.

Even United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits the 11-point gap may be too big for them to overcome.

Ole says realistically, City can’t be caught…and United’s objective now is to improve on last season’s third place finish.
