According to a BERNAMA report, the Ministry of Transport (MOT), through the Road Transport Department (JPJ), will be introducing a dedicated website to make the application process smoother for this group.
Starting today, eligible Malaysians can submit their applications through the official platform, with results available for checking 14 days after submission.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke explained that all applications will be reviewed by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) before approval. He also outlined the basic criteria for applicants:
-
Must be a Malaysian citizen
-
Hold a valid Singaporean driving licence (LMS)
-
Possess a valid work permit in Singapore
Loke further clarified that the BUDI95 fuel subsidy applies only to vehicles registered in Malaysia.
For Malaysians who have left their jobs in Singapore, the minister advised that they can reapply for a Malaysian driving licence after cancelling their Singaporean one.
“This initiative is designed to make things easier for Malaysians working in Singapore, ensuring that they are fairly included in the national fuel subsidy scheme,” Loke said.
The move reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting Malaysians working abroad, particularly those who travel across borders daily for work. It’s a step towards recognising their contribution while making sure they continue to benefit from the country’s essential subsidy programmes.
