A 30-year-old Malaysian man was stopped by immigration officers at the Malaysian border and was then found smuggling 210kg of frozen chicken into the country from Singapore worth RM3,580.

On Sunday (2 October) at around 9 pm, the man was stopped at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Johor while taking the Tuas Second Link from Singapore to Johor. 

According to Sin Chew Daily, the man appeared suspicious during customs check, while traveling in a private vehicle. His car was then examined and immigration officers found 14 boxes of frozen chicken in the boot.

A spokeswoman for the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services said the man did not possess an import permit or any sort of verification for his meat exports. 

The case is now being investigated under the 2011 Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act.
