According to the World Happiness Report, which examines happiness across different life stages and generations, Malaysia ranks 3rd in Southeast Asia and 64th globally for people under 30, with a happiness score of 6.372.
The report, based on data from the Gallup World Poll (GWP), considers various factors such as social support, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and emotional experiences.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand tops the list for youth happiness, ranking 45th globally with a score of 6.497. Singapore follows closely in 2nd place with a score of 6.484. Conversely, Myanmar is noted as the least happy country in the region, ranking 122nd globally with a score of 4.354.
The findings indicate that while youth is generally the happiest phase of life, happiness tends to decline until middle age, after which it significantly recovers. Key aspects of life such as education, employment, and health are closely tied to age, while broader societal and global conditions also play a crucial role in influencing happiness.
