Just days after the Health Ministry (MOH) issued a warning regarding the emergence of two highly transmissible Omicron sub-variants in Malaysia, the country is currently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 infections in the week leading up to Hari Raya Haji.
On Thursday (July 17th), Malaysia recorded 4,020 new COVID-19 cases, nine of which were imported cases.

The latest figure shows an increase in cases over the last week, with 1,918 cases being reported on Monday, 2,932 cases on Tuesday, and 3,561 cases on Wednesday.
This is the first time in nearly three months that more than 4,000 cases have been reported in a single day.
The increase in the number has brought the number of active cases to 33,839 as of yesterday.
Alamak! Please don’t be complacent and stay safe, guys!
