Malaysia may be hit by a fourth wave of Covid-19 infections.

Senior Minister for Security Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this based on data from the Ministry of Health, after it conducted a risk assessment over the past 14 days in states under the conditional MCO and recovery MCO.

This comes after Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the country’s Covid-19 cases may not drop to around 500 daily by mid-May, as previously projected, due to a lack of compliance to SOPs. Earlier, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also warned about an upward trend in active Covid-19 cases recently.

He says the number of patients seeking treatment in hospitals rose from 15,574 on April 11 to 15,835 yesterday (April 12) noting that the rise began on April 7.

Malaysia reported 1,317 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, with the fresh cases bringing the cumulative total to 362,173. This compares to only 1,052 people making a recovery from Covid-19 on April 12th.

So, continue adhering to Covid-19 SOPs because the battle against the pandemic is still ongoing.
