Do you lean on LRT train doors when you take the train? Er, it might be high time you stopped doing that.
Earlier today, an LRT door fell off between the SS18 and USJ 7 LRT stations on the Kelana Jaya line. Twitter user @iqtodabal caught a picture and a video of the incident, where we can see a man standing (precariously, we might add) at the doorless edge of the coach, presumably enjoying the unobstructed view. He’s got some guts.
No one was hurt in the incident and passengers had to get off and walk on the tracks. According to a statement by Rapid KL on their Facebook page, alternative transport was provided for passengers to continue their journey between Gombak and Putra Heights. Iqbal also added that the train door fell on the tracks, which is pretty lucky. Had the door landed somewhere below, the impact and speed could have caused some severe damage.

The incident was caused by the train coming into contact with one of the structures holding up an advertisement board. Honestly, this brings to mind the question of how the structures were placed and designed. For now, the aforementioned structure has been strengthened until after operation hours when full reparation can be done.
Head over to Rapid KL’s Facebook page for further updates and stay safe, guys!
