Toll fare evasion is not something that should be taken lightly!

Projek Lebuhraya Usahasama Berhad (PLUS) warns vehicle owners, particularly logistic companies to be more vigilant and responsible for the actions of their drivers or employees if they fail to pay the required toll fares.

PLUS had previously filed a suit against a logistic company, namely Berjasa Logistics Sdn Bhd, to recover unpaid toll fares involving 19 of their vehicles over the past few years.

In the end, the Federal Court upheld the decision by the High Court and Court of Appeal and ruled that an employer is responsible for its employees’ failure to pay toll fares.

As a result, the Shah Alam High Court allowed PLUS to claim RM518,369.27 and additional cost of RM100,000 from the company for toll fare evasion.

PLUS stresses that toll fare evasion is a serious offence and wants full cooperation from all logistic companies and heavy vehicle owners to continuously monitor and take appropriate actions against their drivers or employees.

In addition, they have identified several toll fraud tactics by heavy vehicle drivers and are working closely with the relevant authorities to curb toll fraud activities along the highway.
