Lionel Messi Finally Gets Off The Mark For PSG

It may have taken him four games, but Lionel Messi has finally scored his first goal for PSG.

He netted in the 2-0 Champions League win over Man City in Paris, in what can only be described as a trademark Messi attack.

The Argentine picked up the ball at the halfway line, played a one-two with Kylian Mbappe who back-heeled the ball back to Messi, who then calmly fired in a shot into the top corner from just outside the penalty box.

It was the first club goal of his entire career that was not scored for Barcelona.

It also extended Messi’s scoring streak in the Champions League to 17 successive seasons.

Messi later told French media he is overjoyed to finally get off the mark.

"I am very happy to have scored. I haven't played much recently, I had only played one game here. I am adapting little by little. What is important is to keep winning”

Messi also said he’s starting to form a better understanding with his new teammates.

"Our relationship will get better and better with each game. We all have to grow together, increase our level of play. We have to continue.”

It wasn’t just up front where the Argentine was doing all the work. He was also busy helping the Parisians defend, and building up play from inside his own half.

There was also one point during the match where Messi played the role of draught excluder in the PSG defensive wall (where he lay on the ground behind the wall, in case a City player attempted a low free kick)

It was the kind of form and commitment from the Argentine that Barcelona fans had come to know and love during his time at the Camp Nou.

Now, he’s doing the same in the blue shirt of PSG.

It’s safe to say that the second era of Lionel Messi is well and truly underway.
