Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Saarani Mohamad said that it is not true and it was confirmed by Perak Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) director, Hairulnizam Abd Rahman on Sunday (September 19th).
“I received the same text message via WhatsApp, claiming that 250 Orang Asli in Gopeng, who tested positive for COVID-19 had fled into the jungle. This morning, the village head’s office said six people have died, including the Tok Batin.
“But after checking with the JAKOA director, I was told that it was fake news,” he said.
He also added that the Perak state government, through its COVID-19 Vaccination Outreach Programme, will ensure that the Orang Asli community are vaccinated, including those who are living deep in the jungle.
Stop spreading fake or unverified news, especially regarding COVID-19 or movement restrictions, as it will cause panic and unrest among the public.
