On December 19, Elon Musk asked Twitter users to vote on whether or not they thought he should step down from his position as CEO. He also promised that he will abide by the poll’s results.
Over 17.5 million users have voted for him to resign.
The poll was carried out on 22 November, just two months after Elon bought the social media company based in San Francisco.
CNBC reported that Musk’s takeover of Twitter has been “rocky” due to the significant staff reductions, an increased number of hate speech on the social media site, the reactivation of accounts that have been suspended, and changes to the platform’s private policy that have sparked heated debates about the right to free speech.
Twitter polls are regarded as “straw polls'' by CNBC, so they shouldn't be regarded as legitimate public opinion. Twitter poll responses can also come from fake accounts or automated programs.
What do you guys think? Should he step down from the position?
