The Selangor Zakat Board wrote on their Facebook page on Sunday (February 21st) that they received information from the public about an elderly woman in a wheelchair, who was found alone by the road with diapers and a bag of clothes.

“The Selangor Zakat Board Saidina Umar Squad, along with the Kuala Langat district distribution operations head went to search for the woman at around 8:30 pm on Saturday (February 20th).”

It was confirmed that the woman still has living family members, however, they did not cooperate with the officers when contacted, and were giving excuses when asked to bring the woman home.

“She has an amputated leg and her memory is not that good, and because of her conditions, we decided to contact the police. The police, of course, used their power and authority to negotiate with her children. They then agreed to bring the woman home,” they continued.

However, at around 3 in the morning, her children decided that they could not take care of her anymore.

The police then contacted a nursing home to take her in. Staff members of the nursing home came to the police station to pick her up in an ambulance and then took her to the hospital for a health check and a COVID-19 screening.

The woman said that she has not seen her children in a very long time and said that they are good children. Despite what she has gone through, she still wished the best for her children.

“Let’s pray that God will bless our efforts to help her, and may this Aunty be taken care of with love, always,” said the post.

We’re so happy that someone found her and that she is being taken care of!
