CMCO: Three Locations In Malaysia Will Be Put Under The CMCO Starting 7 November

The government has decided to implement the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Parit Buntar, Perak following an increase of COVID-19 cases.

In his daily press conference, Senior Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the order will be enforced starting this Saturday (7 November) for two weeks, as reported by the New Straits Times.

The Health Ministry confirmed 12 positive cases in the district recently and a risk assessment showed a trend of potential increase, “The CMCO will affect 45,359 residents in the area at 7,847 housing units.”

The other two areas that will also be placed under the CMCO is Jimah in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, and Rasau in Dungun, Terengganu.

A one-week screening by the Ministry of Health in Jimah found 11 positive cases with all of them reported to be symptomatic cases. Jimah will be placed under the CMCO from 7 November to 20 November, affecting 24,540 residents.

Rasau will be placed under the CMCO for the same duration which will affect 43,687 residents. 2,823 individuals were screened in the area with 25 of them testing positive.

He added: “The same existing SOPs for CMCO would be applied for all three locations and no inter district or state travels will be allowed unless it’s for work purposes. That, too, must come together with a written permission.”

Malaysia recently recorded 1,009 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday (5 November), which totals to 36,434 cases in the country so far.
