City Finally Get Their Man

Man City have completed the highly-anticipated signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The Norway international joins in a five-year deal worth just over £51 million, although some reports say the total cost of the move could exceed £250 million in wages, bonuses and agent fees.

Haaland arrives at the Etihad as one of the most sought-after young players in world football.

His tally of 86 goals in 89 matches for Dortmund attracted the interest of not just City, but practically every major European club including Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But in the end the 21-year-old opted to join the Premier League champions and says he’s looking forward to what lies ahead.

"I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons," said Haaland.

"You can't help but admire their style of play, it's exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me”.

"I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here".

Haaland also has a personal connection to Man City. His father Alf-Inge played for City from 2000-2003 and was their captain at one point.

Throughout his career Haaland has scored 92 goals in 121 appearances for Molde, RB Salzburg and Dortmund, in addition to 20 international goals for Norway. All this before his 22nd birthday.

City will be hoping he’ll bring that form over to the Etihad as well, as they look to defend their EPL crown and claim the elusive Champions League title.
