Police have also denied allegations that the explosion was caused by a bomb attack using a drone which resulted in the death of a man at Persimpangan Kampung Sireh on Friday (May 21st) after the news went viral on Whatsapp.
“Based on preliminary information from witnesses, smoke was seen coming out from the bonnet of the car before the explosion,” said Datuk Shafien.
He also added that during the incident, which happened at 5:30 pm, a 49-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving, which was carrying firecrackers, exploded and the vehicle was split into two.

The explosion was quite strong as it created an impact within a radius of 100 meters including nearby vehicles, mosques, residents’ houses and kindergartens.
He urged all victims involved in the explosion to lodge a police report to facilitate the investigation, including assessing the amount of losses.
Police are also investigating whether the victim was involved in firecracker smuggling activities, as the victim had two previous records of drug offenses and burglary.
