65 students at Sekolah Seri Puteri, Cyberjaya, have tested positive for COVID-19.
“This is the first time a boarding school has reported this many cases”, says Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.
The affected Form 1 and 2 students have been sent to the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).
Those identified as close contacts will be quarantined. The case was first detected at the school after a teacher was confirmed positive for the coronavirus.

The Education Ministry (MOE) had previously said it could close any school in the country for a week if a COVID-19 case is detected, without having to wait for the Health Ministry’s confirmation.
Educational institutions under the MOE in Selangor, KL, Putrajaya and Melaka resumed operations on November 1 after they transitioned into Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan.
