Do you always wonder where you can stop along the highway for good food? Well, fret not! Many Rest & Relax (R&R) areas, especially along the North-South (PLUS) Highway, not only provide restrooms and suraus, but also delicious food. Check out these 5 R&R spots for a great meal on the road!
1. Gunung Semanggol R&R, Perak
Weary travellers can catch a break from their trip at this popular rest stop for a quick bite! If you’re craving for a classic Malaysian burger, you can head on over to Ramly, which is one of the first restaurants you will see pulling up from the highway.

Maybe you’re in the Hari Raya mood and wish to have some ketupat and rendang. You’re in luck, as this R&R has a rendang stall that sells just that, and more! Mostly known for its tasty chicken and beef rendang, the stall’s ketupat palas and lemang are definitely a worth try as well!

2. Bukit Gantang R&R, Perak
If you like munching on fruits when on the road, then this R&R is just the place for you! With an array of options like mangoes, watermelons, and papayas, you’ll be spoilt for choice! Fun fact; these scrumptious fruits are cultivated by locals, and are freshly plucked from orchards near the area or along the North-South Expressway. Fresh, healthy and delicious!

3. R&R Tapah, Perak
Deemed as one of the most popular R&R spots in Malaysia due to its bazaar market that sells crafts and fruits, the Tapah R&R is definitely worth a check for a hearty meal as well! It has a wide variety of food stalls you can choose from to satisfy your cravings for local as well as western dishes! If you decide to stop here, try going for the Mee Kicap or Nasi Bukhara Kambing, which are crowd favorites!

4. R&R Ulu Bernam, Perak
One of the most popular stalls that come to mind when arriving at this R&R is Pau Yik Mun, which sells a great selection of…you guessed it, pau buns!
With rows upon rows of the fluffy snack on display, and a selection from sweet to savoury pau fillings, there will definitely be the right bun for you. The stall also lets you purchase frozen pau for you to enjoy later!

5. Temerloh R&R, Pahang
For those who wish to satisfy their Ikan Patin craving, the Temerloh R&R has got you covered. The stall selling this mouth-watering ikan patin masak tempoyak dish is hailed as a must-try for travellers. Typically paired with a plate of steaming rice, most patrons drop by this R&R just to savour this meal, and it seems to be well worth it!

Also, here’s a little reminder: practice social distancing at R&R areas! If some of the R&R spots get too crowded, PLUS says it will have to temporarily close the R&R to ensure social distancing SOPs are being followed.
