Most parents know their kids are online all the time, but figuring out how to manage that safely isn’t always straightforward.
That’s where TikTok’s #ThinkTwice initiative comes in. And now, it’s moving beyond just awareness with a new, more practical approach: #ThinkTwice Training.
So far in Malaysia, the campaign has already seen nearly 400 million views on educational content, along with over 1.4 million visits to its multilingual knowledge hub. Now, TikTok is focusing on helping parents actually use the tools available to them.
The new training sessions are designed to be simple and hands-on. Parents are guided through features like screen time limits, privacy settings, and Family Pairing, all step-by-step, so it’s easy to follow and apply at home.
For its first session, TikTok collaborated with the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia and the Parent Action Group for Education Malaysia to share practical insights on supporting teens online.
One key takeaway: it’s not about restricting teens, but helping them make better decisions online with the right support.
Teen accounts on TikTok already come with more than 50 privacy and safety settings switched on by default. Parents can then customise these further through features like Family Pairing, depending on what works best for their household.
During the workshop, parents also went through real-life scenarios, learning how to use tools like Restricted Mode, Private Account settings, and screen time controls in situations they might actually face.
TikTok plans to continue rolling out #ThinkTwice Training sessions across Malaysia throughout the year.
