Despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) continues to play its part in safeguarding the interests of People Living with HIV in Malaysia.

Its biggest concern is for the safety of its community members, particularly those on antiretroviral treatment, to ensure that there is no disruption in their treatment.

But as companies adjust to the new economic reality, MAF has turned its attention to public donations and small fundraisers as a new source to fund this emergency need.

This is why MAF has turned its attention to Shopee for a strategic partnership.

MAF Chairman Professor Dato’ Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman explained that the organisation’s current lack of resources amid the pandemic could disrupt access to HIV treatment and prevention services, thus the need for this campaign.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing us to adopt new innovations in fundraising. I am happy to have Shopee leading the way and helping us to reach out to a new generation of young, tech-savvy donors during this extremely challenging environment,” he said.

Under the campaign, a dedicated microsite on Shopee will serve as the campaign’s focal point and a one-stop online destination for our supporters to donate and learn more about HIV/AIDS.

The Shopee X MAF page will also house an online store for exclusive merchandise items under the Red Ribbon brand, including limited-edition crystal lapel pins, t-shirts and tote bags designed by leading Malaysian designers.

A range of active lifestyle products such as dry-fit sports jerseys and waterproof duffel bags perfect for gym are also available.

MAF says the fundraiser is set to become a hallmark event that reflects its ambition and determination to rise above the challenges of COVID-19, and thrive in the new normal.
