Malaysian Vendor Sells Over 100 Breakfast Dishes for Just RM1 in Terengganu

With inflation causing food prices to soar, a simple pack of kuih now ranges from RM3 to RM5, and can be even higher in cities like Kuala Lumpur.

This has led many businesses to raise the prices of their products to keep up with the increasing costs of goods. However, one vendor in Kuala Terengganu has chosen a different approach, selling his products at just RM1 each.

Anuar Hamzah, a 55-year-old street food vendor, has been running his stall in front of Masjid Al-Ikhlas in Kampung Banggol Tuan Muda for the past year. Starting early at 6:30 am every day, Anuar offers a wide selection of over 100 pre-packed food and drinks, including traditional kuih, rice dishes, and beverages from about 40 local vendors.

Anuar's decision to sell his food at RM1 was inspired by the rising cost of living. Despite a slim profit margin, he finds satisfaction in helping ease the financial burden of his customers, especially families with many children.

In an interview with Harian Metro, Anuar explained, "Families with many children often struggle financially when it comes to buying meals in bulk. With breakfast priced at only RM1 per item, I believe this helps reduce their overall food expenses." He added, "Even though the profit is small, as long as everything sells out, it still brings returns."

Anuar's initiative not only provides affordable meals to his customers but also supports local vendors who continue to offer quality food at a low price, despite rising costs.

This simple yet thoughtful approach has made a positive impact on the community, providing much-needed relief in challenging times.
