The Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory (SCAS&FT) first held the Annual Charity Walk Jog Wheel-A-Thon on July 30, 1994, at Dataran Merdeka flagged off by Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka (Dr.) Saleha Mohd Ali, a strong advocate of SCAS&FT.

Since then the organization has annually organized the event for the past 26 years. They are also proud to have the event recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the Longest Running Charity Walk / Jogathon Event during their 23rd edition in 2016!

This year will be their 27th edition after a 2-year break from 2020 to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The charity marathon will be held at Dataran Merdeka, on November 20th, 2022 at 6:30 am!

The organization is targeting around 3,000 participants including people with disabilities.

The Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory (SCAS&FT) was established on July 6, 1960. Their vision and mission are to improve the quality of life for children with cerebral palsy through educational and rehabilitation programmes.

The event will consist of the following categories:

  • 2km fun walk with disabled – This event and distance is for people with volunteers, joining hands and walking together along with the disabilities.

  • 7km open – This event and distance is for the public who wish to compete for prizes including cash!

SCAS&FT started its operation in a small residence in Lorong Seputeh in 1960, before moving to its own premises in Petaling Jaya in 1966.

In 1996 they built a new 6 storey building to cater for more student intake adjacent to their old block which was later demolished with plans to construct another 7-storey building to cater for additional intake in the near future.

The association is also deeply honored and grateful to have His Royal Highness, Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj as its Royal patron.

For more than 60 years, SCAS&FT has offered life-long FREE support to children with cerebral palsy through various services and programmes. SCAS&FT manages a day center that provides facilities on basic academics, living skills and vocational training, a sheltered workshop, as well as a rehabilitation center.

It provides a comprehensive range of treatments covering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and hydrotherapy.
