The durian season is upon us, and you would have to live under a rock to not notice that. From durian buffets to all kinds of durian-inspired food, the king of the fruits has taken over the Malaysian palate in recent months. But have you ever heard of a Durian Expo?
Durian lovers, you’re in luck! From 26th to 28th July, the inaugural Durian Expo Kuala Lumpur 2019 will be held at Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort. The event, supported by Tourism Malaysia and the Department of Agriculture, will bring together professionals and durian fans from across Malaysia and the rest of the world to celebrate this beloved fruit.

Visitors will be able to enjoy all things durian through the different exhibition booths: from sampling mouth-watering Malaysian varieties at the expo’s “King of Fruits” durian buffet to learning more about durian products plus farm visits and resorts. The expo will also feature seminars, symposiums and networking opportunities among the major players in the sector from all over the world.
Of course, being a Malaysian durian expo, our famed durian species of Musang King (Mao Shan Wang) from Pahang and Black Thorn (Orchee) from Penang will be featured throughout the expo. Other highlights include a cooking demo and book signing by Master Chef UK alumni Zaleha Kadir Olpin at 4pm on the 26th July.
Entrance to the expo is free while buffets and seminars will be charged. The three-day expo runs from 10am to 8pm daily. For more information and registration, please visit www.durianexpo.com.
