CalaQisya, the local modest fashion brand, is collaborating with Walt Disney through a fashion collection inspired by the new Disney film, Raya And The Last Dragon.
This Disney film features the adventures of an Asian princess named Raya, which premiered earlier this month.
Having the opportunity to work with international brands like Disney is definitely a dream of many local brands so when CalaQisya was able to seal the collaboration deal with them, it is something that this local modest brand is very proud of.
CEO of CalaQisya, Yana Khairudin said that Disney has always been a part of our childhood.
“Even though we are all grown-ups now, we sometimes still watch Disney movies to cheer ourselves up by reliving our childhood memories, especially after a long day. We are not exaggerating when we say that this collaboration with Disney is the greatest achievement and huge milestone in the history of CalaQisya that we will remember and cherish for the rest of our lives,” she said.
This momentous collaborative collection features five designs of printed kaftan with the backdrop from the movie’s sceneries. The soon to be launched collection also carries four different designs of printed headscarves and scrunchies that are available in CalaQisya x Disney customised pouches.
“The inspiration behind the chosen prints came from the elaborately detailed thematic motifs of Raya and The Last Dragon which can only be noticed if you look closely. The subtle detailing in the prints is very familiar with the Southeast Asian identity, culture and heritage, which you will notice when you watch Raya and the Last Dragon.”
"Finally, we have a Disney princess who represents 'our people,' which is a reason enough to release this collaborative collection. And on top of that, we are just very proud to learn that the screenwriter Adele Lim is our own Malaysian!" Yana added.
Raya is a princess who represents 680 million Southeast Asians, and that is why Raya and the Last Dragon, is a highly-anticipated film by many of us!
The film depicts a warrior princess who embarks on a journey to save the mystical land of Kumandra in search of the world's last dragon. It emphasises the importance of trust as an important component in achieving world peace and harmony.
