Cadbury’s Kuih Raya Dari Hati Empowers Women Home Bakers

What began as a heartfelt act of sharing homemade treats during Ramadan and Raya has grown into something much bigger. Through Cadbury Dairy Milk’s Kuih Raya Dari Hati programme, women from the Lembah Subang and Seri Pantai PPR communities are turning their baking skills into real businesses, creating new opportunities and more secure livelihoods for their families.

The programme has evolved beyond seasonal support into a platform for long-term empowerment. Today, it supports 20 dedicated home bakers who are transforming their passion for baking into small but growing enterprises. With the right training, support and resources, many of these women have moved from baking casually at home to running businesses with confidence and pride.

A major milestone came in December 2025 when the participating women completed a Ministry of Health Malaysia certification in food safety and handling. This certification ensures their baked goods meet national hygiene and food safety standards while also giving their businesses greater credibility and opportunities to grow in the marketplace.

Cadbury is also helping bring their creations to a wider audience. Specialty treats by the programme’s lead bakers are now featured on the Cadbury Official Store on Shopee, allowing Malaysians across the country to enjoy festive favourites like Cadbury Kuih Kapit and Cadbury Double Chocolate Cookies. For the women behind these treats, this means a sustainable income stream and the chance to grow their businesses beyond their neighbourhoods.

For Sarasvathy, who leads the PPR Seri Pantai group, the journey has been deeply meaningful. She shared that the programme has allowed her and her team to dream bigger and turn those dreams into reality. With the support they received, she is now able to help her daughter pursue higher education, something she once thought might not be possible.

Nur Sharzi Bashar, who leads the PPR Lembah Subang group and has been running her home-based business for over two years, said the experience has transformed her life. Achieving financial independence has given her peace of mind, especially during the festive season. She can now provide a steady income for her family, travel more comfortably and plan for the future with confidence.

Beyond income generation, Kuih Raya Dari Hati has also become a platform for confidence-building and leadership. Many of the women are now mentoring others in their communities, sharing their skills and encouraging more women to explore entrepreneurship.

According to Mei Sin, Marketing Lead for Malaysia and Singapore at Mondelēz International, the programme reflects the company’s belief that real impact comes from enabling people to grow beyond the moment. Over the past two years, the women involved have transformed from home bakers into confident micro-entrepreneurs who are building sustainable businesses while uplifting others around them.

Since its launch in 2021, Cadbury’s Kuih Raya Dari Hati campaign has encouraged Malaysians to share kindness through homemade treats during Ramadan and Raya. In 2024, the initiative expanded under #MDLZPrihatin, a long-term collaboration between Mondelēz International Malaysia and MyKasih Foundation that supports underserved families through food aid, education, skills development and entrepreneurship.

As the programme continues to grow, it stands as a reminder that small acts of generosity can lead to lasting impact. What started with baking in home kitchens has become a movement empowering women to build better futures for themselves, their families and their communities.
