Mobile games on Snapchat are pretty fun, but how about games that you can play with friends at your own time?
Snap Games has been around since early this year, but there will now be a new format called Leaderboard Games - not only will Snapchatters be able to challenge their friends to lighthearted competitions, they will be able to do so anytime, anywhere!
Casual, easy-to-play games are something many people look forward to as a way to release stress or boredom, and Leaderboard Games offers just that. The added freedom of being able to challenge friends asynchronously complements the real-time multiplayer games available on Snap Games. A little friendly competition really amps up the fun too, we might say!
There will also be a brand new feature called Score Streaming, which can show Snapchatters their friends’ live scores. One extra cute feature is that players will see their friends’ Bitmojis peeking over the Chat Bar while playing the same game though a shared conversation. Way to make the game way more interactive!
The first two Leaderboard Games, called “Find My Friends” and “Slide the Shakes”, are developed by Snap’s own games studio. In “Find My Friends,” users can score points by finding their friends out of a crowd in various scenarios. With each level, the scenario gets crazier, and the faster the friends are found, the higher the score! Meanwhile, “Slide the Shakes” offers exactly what it says - users have to serve delicious milkshakes to friends by sliding them along the counter. That’s not all, though! There will be obstacles like moving platforms, slippery ice and giant swinging wrecking balls to navigate through!
How to play Leaderboard Games
· Open Snapchat (iOS or Android)
· Tap Chat or swipe right to the Friends screen
· Open a Chat or Group Chat and tap the rocket icon to open the Game Drawer
· To play a new Leaderboard Game, look for a trophy icon
· If friends are playing at the same time, you can chat via text or voice while you play
Will you be trying these new features out?
