Malaysian-Born Actress, Fish Liew Wins “Best Supporting Actress” At Hong Kong Film Awards!

Malaysian-born actress, Fish Liew won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Anita Mui’s sister Ann Mui in the Hong Kong biographical musical drama film about Cantopop star, Anita Mui.

The 40th Hong Kong Film Awards took place last Sunday (July 17th), after it was postponed thrice from April following the city's biggest COVID-19 outbreak. It was also the first time that the awards were held in person since 2019.

“Anita,” which was the highest-grossing Hong Kong film in 2021 bagged a total of five awards, the most awards for the night including Best Costume and Design, Best Visual Effects as well as Best Sound Design. 

According to CNA Lifestyle, the film topped the box office in Hong Kong upon release, eventually grossing US$18.5 million (RM82,343,500) in total box office sales. 

“Anita” also earned more than 10 million yuan (RM6,604,600) on its opening day at the Chinese box office.
