Several global events, conventions, exhibitions and concerts have been cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19, and in the meantime, many are left to wonder, will there be a replacement for events during these trying times?
Celebrities and musicians have taken to their social media platforms as a medium to connect with their fans, regardless if it’s for LIVE performances or a hangout session. Music festivals have also turned to social media to host a few home concerts, and it’s no different for comic-conventions or other pop culture fan festivals.
Last month, the annual San Diego Comic-Con announced that their convention this year will be replaced with a virtual convention instead.
Following in its footsteps of using social media, the Singapore and Malaysian Comic Community have joined forces to organize the very first virtual fan festival, which aims to gather fans and comic creators from around the world to connect and hangout.
The Singapore-Malaysian Virtual Fan Festival (SMVFF2020) is set have comic book legends like Art Adams and Adam Hughes to Malaysian artists like Kael Ngu and Alan Quah in its lineup.

The two-day event allows fans to do anything and everything they can, just like a real-life comic-con. The experience may be different but at the end of the day, it will be a fan festival not to be missed.
Here’s the list of comic book creators joining the festival. Ask any questions you have regarding the comic industry and what creators are reading.
