Kuala Lumpur-based rising idol group, KLP48, is set to celebrate its anticipated 1st Anniversary with a special concert titled “〜BLOOM〜”, happening on Saturday, 16th
August 2025, at 5.30pm at Zepp Kuala Lumpur.
Organised by 48 Entertainment Sdn Bhd, the celebratory concert will highlight the vibrant talents of KLP48 in an evening filled with live performances, high-energy choreography, and cross-cultural idol camaraderie.
Formed in 2024 to Japan’s globally-renowned AKB48, KLP48 represents the Southeast Asian expansion of the “idols you can meet” concept, pioneered by iconic producer Yasushi Akimoto. AKB48, recognised by Guinness World Records as the Largest Pop Group in the World, has laid the foundation for KLP48 to continue this legacy with a unique multicultural touch. KLP48 features 13 members: 7 Malaysians, 4 Japanese, 1 Indonesian, and 1 from Hong Kong. Among them are three transfers from AKB48 and one from STU48, bringing international experience and seasoned idol presence to the group.
Since its formation, KLP48 has quickly gained popularity not just in Malaysia, but also in Japan, with members having been invited to perform at international stages and events. The group acknowledges that their hard work and dedication over the past year has begun to bear fruit, as seen in the growing support from fans worldwide. This momentum continues to inspire and motivate the members to push themselves further in every aspect of their journey as idols.
In preparation for the August performance, the group also has been immersed in intensive rehearsals and behind-the-scenes planning including vocal training, choreography sessions, and collaborative discussions on setlists and production design.
Adding to the excitement, the concert will feature special pre-show appearances by three highly anticipated guest acts. COËX, a rising all-female pop group from Malaysia, is known for their youthful energy and catchy girl-power anthems that have made waves across local streaming platforms.
Ismail Izzani, one of Malaysia’s most prominent young solo singers, brings a mix of R&B and pop that has earned him millions of plays and a strong fanbase since his breakout debut at age 17. Also joining the celebration is JKT48, the Indonesian sister group of AKB48 and the first overseas group in the 48 Group family. Based in Jakarta, JKT48 has played a pivotal role in introducing the idol culture to Southeast Asia and continues to be one of the region’s most successful idol groups.
