“Born Pink” is also the only k-pop album that made it on the list, which debuted at no. 42 of “The 50 Best Albums of 2022: Staff List.”
“The pressure was on when it came time for BLACKPINK, the biggest girl group in the world to release their sophomore album, because of the praise the group received for the release of their 2020’s album, “The Album”
“But with influential record company YG and dependable producer Teddy Park by their side, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose knew that “Born Pink” would succeed,” said Billboard.
With the release of their album on 16 September, BLACKPINK has become the first K-pop girl group to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The group also hit no. 25 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Best Albums of 2022 for “Born Pink” and was the most-streamed girl group on Spotify in 2022.
The girls were also chosen as Time Magazine’s 2022 Entertainer of the Year, making it the first girl group ever to earn the title and the second K-pop acts to do so after BTS in 2020.
BLACKPINK is currently on their largest world tour expected to attract about 1.5 million fans in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
Wah, what an amazing achievement for these very talented girls!
