“It’s Spa Day!” Elephant In Zoo Negara Gets Turmeric Bath, Netizens Amused!

This week, a lucky fortunate elephant at Zoo Negara was treated to a special spa day that included a massage using serbuk kunyit, or turmeric powder.

Adabi Consumer, a manufacturer of spices, posted pictures of the gentle giant having the powder applied to its skin by its handlers, turning it a vivid shade of yellow.

The turmeric that were used weighed more than seven kilograms, and it covered the elephant's entire body. Turmeric, a popular South Asian ingredient is well known for having a number of health and beauty benefits for both humans and animals.

In the now viral Facebook post, which has over 14,000 shares so far, Adabi Consumers said that the spice has the ability to heal insect bites, treat minor wounds, function as an antiseptic, and revitalize the skin.

The elephant maintained its yellow appearance for a while after the soothing massage so that the natural benefits of the spice could seep into its skin.

One person on social media noted the elephant's happy expression as it was being massaged, “You can see it in its eyes, how happy he is getting pampered.”
