Scam Alert! Malaysian Shares How She Received Parcel And Had To Pay RM69 Delivery Fee!

A woman recently shared how she was scammed to pay for a parcel that she had not ordered.

The victim, known as Hawa, allegedly received a package addressed to her from an online business. When she opened the parcel, she was confused to find random items that she had not ordered, including a bag, a set of cutleries and a water bottle.

She claimed that the sender had chosen the cash-on-delivery (COD) delivery option for the parcel and that she unknowingly paid the RM69 delivery fee.

In another tweet, Hawa also revealed that a few of her friends had also fallen victims to this type of scam. Many also replied to her tweet saying that they, too, had been receiving parcels with a RM69 delivery charge.

Fortunately for Hawa, she at least received something in the package because according to the replies, some victims only got empty packages!

Meanwhile, one of her friends told her that she went through the same thing, only she had squeezed the package and it felt like it was empty, so she asked the delivery man to send the parcel back to the sender as she did not order anything.

A man, who worked as a delivery man saw her tweet, but wished to remain anonymous, informed her of this modus operandi and confirmed that the problem has existed for some time.

He also advised her that most courier companies would usually send an automated SMS stating that your parcel is out for delivery.

Aiyo, you can’t trust anyone nowadays!

Scammers are very good at what they do, and they can be very good at convincing you that they are who they say they are.

So, please don’t fall into their traps. Always be careful and informed!
