Heatstroke occurs when one's body overheats and cannot regulate its temperature, and it is a serious medical condition that requires immediate treatment.

The extreme heat has even inspired a woman from Sabah to conduct an experiment by cooking an egg using only the sun's heat…

Fatasha Nadia shared on Facebook that she poured cooking oil into a metal pot and let it simmer under the sun for 10 minutes before cracking a raw egg into it.

After two and a half hours, the egg had transformed into a fully cooked sunny-side-up egg. While Fatasha's experiment may be impressive, it also highlights the dangers of heatstroke and the importance of taking care of oneself during a heatwave.

During a heatwave, it is crucial to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Dehydration can cause fatigue, dizziness, and even confusion, so it's essential to drink fluids regularly to replenish the fluids lost through sweat.

Additionally, avoiding spending too much time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, typically between 11 am and 4 pm, can help prevent heat exhaustion and heatstroke. If it's necessary to be outside during this time, it's important to stay in the shade or wear a hat and sunglasses to protect oneself from the sun's harmful rays.

It's also important to wear loose-fitting clothing made of breathable materials such as cotton or linen. These fabrics allow air to circulate around the body, which helps keep one cool. Light-colored clothes are also better as they reflect the sun's rays and do not absorb heat as much as dark-colored clothing.

And remember, if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke such as dizziness, headache, nausea, or muscle cramps, it is essential to seek medical attention immediately.

Delaying treatment can lead to serious complications such as organ damage or even death. In cases of heatstroke, the body temperature can rise to dangerous levels, and urgent medical intervention is necessary.

By taking these precautions, we can ensure that we stay healthy and safe during these hot and humid days. It's crucial to listen to our bodies and take breaks when we feel overwhelmed by the heat.

With a little extra care, we can enjoy the summertime while staying healthy and safe!
