Woman Robbed At Petrol Station, Didn’t Realise A Man Was Waiting For Her To Unlock Her Car

Police are now looking for a man who was caught on camera running away with a woman’s handbag at a petrol station.

According to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the robbery which involved two suspects happened at around 9 am on Wednesday (22 February) at Jalan Cheras in Kuala Lumpur.

The dashcam footage of the incident has since made it rounds on social media.

In the video, the suspect is seen already waiting at the front passenger door waiting for her to unlock her car. It is understood that the victim had just refueled her car and unlocked it before the suspect quickly opened the door and ran away with her handbag.

Netizens have expressed their concerns as the incident happened at a public place and in broad daylight.

The Cheras district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin said in a statement that he came across the 14-second video on Facebook after it had gone viral. He added that PDRM is currently looking into the video and investigating it.

“One of the suspects ran away with the victim’s handbag which was placed on the front passenger seat of the victim’s car.

“The estimated loss is RM500 and the case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement. 

This happened literally in broad daylight! So always be aware of your surroundings and stay safe, guys!
