Uncle Kentang Issues Alert: Beware of Impersonation on Fake Facebook Account Soliciting Donations

Uncle Kentang, the well-known Malaysian philanthropist, has long been a beacon of hope for those in need through his charitable organization.

However, a concerning issue has come to light as unscrupulous individuals exploit the 'Uncle Kentang' brand for personal gain.

Taking to his official Facebook page, 马铃薯叔叔日志 Uncle Kentang, Uncle Kentang himself issued a heartfelt warning to the public about fraudulent social media accounts falsely claiming association with his organization.

He wrote, "Beware of fake accounts! Dear friends, someone is impersonating our official Facebook account and posting deceptive requests for assistance. Please exercise caution to avoid falling victim to these scams."

In his post, Uncle Kentang shared screenshots of the fraudulent social media account along with messages sent by the suspect in an attempt to solicit donations. He highlighted the differences between the legitimate and fake accounts, emphasizing that the scammers were using an RHB bank account for fundraising, while the authentic organization uses a CIMB account. Furthermore, the scammer's account was registered under the name "White Rocky Anak Allan Eighten," whereas Uncle Kentang's charity is officially known as "Pertubuhan Amal Uncle Kentang Malaysia."

Uncle Kentang earnestly urged the public to exercise utmost vigilance and not fall prey to these deceitful tactics. Although the fake Facebook page has been removed, there is no certainty that more such accounts won't surface in the future.

To combat this issue and protect the goodwill of genuine donors, Uncle Kentang implored the public to report any suspicious activity immediately. He shared contact numbers (018-2683999/012-2732148) for individuals who may have inadvertently been misled and encouraged everyone to remain cautious when verifying the authenticity of charity organizations on social media before making any contributions.
