Recycling practices not only contribute to environmental preservation but can also be creatively repurposed to create something new. This is exemplified by the ingenuity of a 15-year-old student from SMK Seri Desa, Tanjong Karang, named Ahmad Afiq.
With the assistance of his older brother and father, he constructed a replica of the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC).

This six-meter-tall replica was assembled using approximately 700 used plastic bottles, as shared by Ahmad Afiq. He mentioned that these bottles were collected from various locations in Tanjong Karang, Shah Alam, and Kuala Selangor since the beginning of August.
"The reason for creating this KLCC replica is because at my school, we have a recycling competition using discarded items," he explained.
Initially, Ahmad Afiq planned to construct the KLCC replica using drinking straws but eventually abandoned the idea. He elaborated, "Initially, I intended to make it using drinking straws, but the size would be small, and it would be difficult to create. Then, my parents suggested using plastic bottles, and it ended up surpassing the height of our house."

Furthermore, during the initial stages of constructing the replica, the teenager used his father's motorcycle tire as a template.
"I only used the tire to get the circular shape as a reference. After that, I moved it," he clarified.
Ahmad Afiq also mentioned that the results of the recycling competition will be announced after the school break. He expressed pride in the replica he built with his brother and father, and their efforts have garnered widespread support.
After completing the KLCC replica, they went on to construct a replica of the Kuala Lumpur Tower. Both replicas now stand proudly beside their family home.
