“How Could They?” Cyberjaya Worker Finds Ill Cat Dumped Like Trash, Public Outraged by Owner’s Actions

We’re seeing heartbreaking news like this far too often. Sick pets abandoned by owners who no longer want the responsibility. Whether it’s due to rising vet bills or the animal becoming “inconvenient,” these cases often reveal a harsh truth: some people treat pets as disposable the moment things get difficult.

Recently, a troubling case near Cyberjaya made its way to the Facebook page Cyberjaya Info, where the group Dunia Kucing Malaysia shared a story of a sick cat left behind at a recycling centre.

The adult cat was found inside a small box by a worker at Pusat Kitar Semula Cyberjaya (PKSC) while he was sorting through trash on 3rd June 2025. According to the worker, the cat looked unwell and had clearly been left there intentionally. Along with the cat were basic items such as food, cat litter, and signs that the owner had previously cared for more than one feline.

Shockingly, the box even had the owner’s name and address written on it, “It’s heartbreaking,” the worker said. “Even if the cat is sick, there are better ways to deal with it than abandoning it like garbage.”

Many netizens echoed his sentiments, calling out the cruelty and questioning why the owner didn’t turn to nearby facilities for help. Some pointed out that Taman Tasik Cyberjaya, which has a space for cats, could have been a more humane option.

Thankfully, kind-hearted individuals in the comment section have started a crowdfunding initiative to help cover the cat’s medical care, showing that while some may abandon, others will step in to protect.

There are other and more humane ways to help your pets if you cannot afford their medical bills, such as seeking help from animal shelters or opting for government clinics. Your pets are part of your family!
