SHINee's Onew Reveals Unexpected 'Friend' Who Helped Him Through His Lonely Hiatus

Onew, the charismatic leader of SHINee, a group that has left an indelible mark on the K-pop industry, recently shared a poignant chapter of his life.

Known for their innovative music and captivating performances, SHINee has been a beacon of inspiration for fans worldwide.

On July 27th, Onew appeared as a special guest on TWICE Jungyeon's YouTube show 'The Inspector,' in an episode intriguingly titled 'Meeting Onew for the First Time?! What Happens When the 'No Jams' of TWICE and SHINee Meet!'.

The episode showcased a heartfelt interaction as Onew visited JYP Entertainment, bringing along some meaningful gifts and spending quality time with Jungyeon at a nearby playground.

One of the gifts Onew brought was a deeply cherished baseball glove. "This is a pitcher's glove. Back in 2010 or 2011, I had vocal cord surgery and couldn't speak for about six months," Onew recounted, showing the glove to Jungyeon.

"During that silent period, I bought this glove and spent countless hours throwing the ball. It became a companion through my anxiety, loneliness, and hardships – truly a friend that helped me endure."

Previously, Onew underwent surgery to remove vocal cord polyps, which necessitated a hiatus from his activities. During this challenging time, he dedicated himself to rigorous rehabilitation, relearning how to produce sound from scratch.

Oh dear! We’re glad he is well now.
