The video, which has racked up over 1.8 million views on TikTok, captured the attention of food lovers and curious onlookers alike.
In the clip, the stall owner, affectionately known as Umi, meticulously prepares an extravagant order of seven packets of nasi lemak. However, what truly sets this order apart are the lavish side dishes, which include not just the usual accompaniments but also two lobsters, two giant squids, a generous handful of prawns, fish roe, two pieces of fried chicken, and sambal quail eggs.
The eye-watering total of RM410 has sparked a mixed bag of reactions online. While some viewers were taken aback by the price of what is typically considered a humble meal, others defended the cost as reasonable given the current market rates for seafood.
One TikTok user expressed disbelief, saying, "I sell nasi lemak too, and I was scared looking at that price." Another user remarked, "I was shocked to read RM410; I thought it was a typo for RM4.10. But after watching the video and seeing the lobster, it makes sense."
Calculating the cost, another netizen pointed out, "RM410 divided by seven packets comes to about RM60 per person. I think that’s okay, especially for a treat with lobster, squid, and prawns. Once a year… or if you have more money, maybe once a month!"
