"Good Pay, Office Is Close, But..." Person Feels Lost and Wants to Resign for Having No Friends

It’s hard to have it all. Sometimes you love your job and have amazing colleagues, but the pay or company benefits aren’t great. Other times, the salary is solid, the environment is supportive… but you just can’t seem to connect with anyone.

It’s all normal and simply part of life.

Still, for some, the loneliness that comes with work can be overwhelming even when everything else seems perfect on paper.

Recently, a post on X (formerly Twitter) went viral after a user shared how one person was seriously considering quitting their job, not because of a terrible boss or poor working conditions, but because they didn’t have a single friend at work.

Their house is near the office, the boss is kind, and the pay isn’t bad. But the absence of companionship made work feel isolating.

User @ammarFRS posted the confession, quoting the person’s words:

“The salary isn't bad, my house is nearby, and my boss is nice. But I don’t have any close friends here. I eat lunch alone and if I’m stressed, I just break down on my own.”

The post quickly sparked responses from netizens who shared similar experiences or offered words of encouragement.

It begs the question — what do you think matters more in a workplace: the people or the perks?
