Netizen Slams M’sian Teen Who Was Caught On Camera Vandalising LRT Escalator

Do not vandalize! Don’t we learn this in school?

But… in case you weren’t paying attention in school (which you shouldn’t!), vandalism means the destruction of property without purpose. It’s wrong and shouldn’t be tolerated!

Recently, netizens criticized a teenager who was caught in a close-circuit television (CCTV) footage intentionally pressing the stop button on an escalator at an LRT station in Sri Rampai.

The Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) shared the video on their official Facebook page explaining that the escalator's emergency button is only used in times of emergency.

The button, if used indiscriminately, can cause damage to the escalator and eventually cause inconvenience to other users.

Netizens took to the comment section to criticize the teenager’s behaviour, which they described as troublesome, “DBKL, please don’t blur his face. Let this be a lesson to him!” one person commented.

#KLBandarUntukSemua #SayangiKualaLumpur #cegahvandalisme

Escalators are very important, especially during peak hours as they can carry many more people than an elevator and don’t make people wait around which helps in avoiding congestion  and saves time!

Also, when the power goes out, the immobile escalator serves as regular stairs, which makes them useful even when turned off and acts as extra stairs during an emergency.

So, please keep your hands to yourself and leave the escalator alone!
