A recent TikTok video, posted by the account @mata.helang, captures this resourceful pak cik standing outside his house during a flood. Armed with a net, he decides to turn the watery situation to his advantage.
With a deft throw, he casts the net into the floodwaters, allowing it to soak briefly before reeling it back in. To everyone's surprise, he successfully catches a handful of fish, a rather impressive haul given the short duration the net spent in the flood.
The pak cik has garnered widespread praise for his quick thinking and resourcefulness. Many Malaysians applauded him for making the best of a challenging situation. One user shared that he had employed a similar fishing tactic during a flood in Kelantan back in 2014, right outside his home.
Jokes also ensued, with one user humorously stating, "If I went fishing outside this house, I'd probably just catch tadpoles." However, amidst the laughter, there was a collective agreement among users that such incidents were not entirely coincidental during floods.
The pak cik's resilience and ability to turn adversity into opportunity have left a positive mark, proving that sometimes, even in the midst of a flood, a bit of resourcefulness can bring unexpected blessings.
However, it’s important that we realise the potential dangers associated with floodwaters. Consuming food caught in floodwaters poses a risk of contamination and waterborne diseases.
It's crucial to exercise caution and prioritise safety when faced with such circumstances, ensuring that the pursuit of resourcefulness doesn't compromise health!
