A video recently went viral showing friends of a Malaysian Chinese man surprising him with a kompang ensemble for his birthday.

In the two-minute video, the man is seen having a birthday dinner with his friends at a local restaurant. A kompang ensemble then enters the restaurant and begins playing music around the man and his friends.
The group then comes to a halt in front of him while a birthday cake is brought into the room.
They then sing the Happy Birthday song twice, once in English and once in Chinese.
Netizens took to the comment section to share their amusement, saying that they loved the man’s friend’s brilliant birthday surprise idea.
One user said that the man was lucky to have friends who would go above and beyond to throw a one-of-a-kind birthday surprise for him, “This is the most Malay birthday celebration ever!”
The video has since garnered over 929,000 views on Twitter.
