A recent story shared on social media has touched the hearts of Malaysians, showing how small acts of kindness can make a huge difference.
In a post on Threads, user @mirzahiraa recounted a frightening morning when she woke up feeling extremely unwell. Shivering and in pain, she tried to walk to a nearby clinic, only to find it closed. With no other options and her RM30 almost gone while waiting for her salary, she decided to book a Grab.
“My whole body was shaking as I held my phone, trying to book a Grab. I was also worried because I only had RM30 left while waiting for my salary on Monday,” she wrote.
That’s when a compassionate “pakcik” Grab driver arrived. Seeing her distress, he immediately offered to take her to another clinic. But when they arrived, it was crowded.
“‘It’s okay, don’t worry about money. Let’s find another place,’ he said,” Mirza recalled.
He then offered to take her to a private hospital, but Mirza hesitated, worried she couldn’t afford it. Overwhelmed, she cried harder, thinking of her parents who were far away in Perak. She said the driver became like a guardian angel in their absence.
Ultimately, he drove her to the emergency department of a government hospital. His support didn’t stop there — he walked her inside, bought her breakfast, gave her extra money for expenses, and even checked on her later via video call to make sure she was okay.
Mirza ended her post by urging others to recognise the driver’s kindness: “If you ever get him as your Grab driver, please give him 5 stars and leave a kind comment. He is truly, truly a good man. This pakcik eased my hardship, and in return, I pray that Allah blesses him every day, makes everything easy for him, and multiplies his sustenance many times over.”
This heartwarming story is a reminder that simple acts of compassion can leave a lasting impact — sometimes becoming a lifeline when it’s needed most.
