Recently, British-Malaysian actor Henry took a trip down memory lane in LADbible’s Snack Wars, where he compared five popular Malaysian snacks with five British ones to see which came out on top.
“This is Malaysia vs England, because I’m half Malaysian and half British,” he shared at the beginning of the video.
The snack face-offs were:
-
Mamee Monster vs Monster Munch
-
Durian biscuits vs jam tarts
-
Teh tarik vs Yazoo
-
Glutinous rice balls vs Jaffa Cakes
-
Mi-mi crab crisps vs Scampi Fries
When Henry saw the Mamee packet, he couldn’t hide his excitement. He crushed the noodles, added the seasoning, gave it a good shake, and poured it straight into his mouth—the way all Malaysian kids do it. “These are amazing and going to be hard to beat,” he said, although he also had love for the tangy pickled onion Monster Munch.
Throughout the video, Henry proudly showcased his Malaysian roots. He showed how to enjoy teh tarik the traditional way, defended the unique taste of durian, and called Mi-mi crab crisps “the flavour of my childhood.”
In the end, Malaysian snacks won 4–1, with the only loss being the glutinous rice balls, which were edged out by Jaffa Cakes.
Malaysians flooded the comments with support, thanking Henry for staying true to both sides of his heritage and for celebrating the snacks many of us grew up loving.
