It’s often said that Malay is relatively easy for Malaysians to learn, but it’s truly remarkable to see someone from another country mastering the language with such fluency.
One person who has captured the admiration of netizens is @husnaliangliang, a journalist from China, whose TikTok videos showcase her impressive command of Malay.

In one of her recent posts, Husna visited a university in Beijing that holds a special place in the history of Malay language education in China. Established in 1962, this institution was the first in the country to offer a Malay language programme. During her visit, Husna followed Ghina, a former student, as they joined a class of first-year students who had only been learning Malay for three months.
The lesson was led by Dr. Nadia, a dedicated teacher who began the session with a warm-up activity, asking students simple questions in Malay and encouraging them to respond in the same language. Dr. Nadia explained that her students often read Malay books to prepare for class, and she expressed her admiration for their enthusiasm and commitment to learning.
Husna’s video sparked a wave of reactions from netizens, who were both impressed and inspired by the students’ progress. Comments flooded in, with many praising Husna’s own fluency and the efforts of the students.
“So fluent. Even people born in Malaysia aren’t this fluent,” wrote one commenter.
Another added, “You’re incredibly fluent in Malay. Well done,” while one user cheekily remarked, “Husna is on her way to becoming Malay.”
