BLACKPINK's Lisa’s Support for YG’s Trainees Exemplifies Her Personality: "We Struggled a Lot"

When thinking about the life of a K-Pop trainee, many fans might imagine it as a glamorous journey filled with excitement and anticipation. However, the reality is far more challenging and demanding. BLACKPINK's Lisa is one of the idols who has opened up about the true hardships of this experience.

Recently, BLACKPINK made history by gracing the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and Lisa's solo editorial was a highlight. In her interview, Lisa candidly discussed the tough times she faced as a trainee.

Reflecting on her training period, Lisa shared that the primary focus was always on debuting. “Debut, debut, debut, that was the only thing on our minds,” she recalled. The pressure was intense, with monthly evaluations, solo and team performances, and countless lessons aimed at honing their skills.

Being far from her home in Thailand added to the difficulty for Lisa. She remembered calling her mother, feeling the urge to quit, but her mom always encouraged her to persevere for just another year.

Despite these challenges, Lisa has become an inspiration to many aspiring idols. Now, as a senior artist at YG Entertainment, she receives great respect from trainees. Lisa described how trainees bow deeply and greet her formally, highlighting the reverence they have for her.

However, Lisa's success hasn’t made her distant. She has formed a special bond with a Thai trainee, who reminds her of her younger self. Lisa takes on more than just a mentoring role; she acts as a sister figure, providing emotional support and companionship.

“There is a Thai trainee who reminds me of when I was young. I’m trying to take care of her,” Lisa explained. They spend time together outside of training, eating meals and going shopping, creating a supportive relationship. Lisa emphasised the importance of being there for the trainee, not just giving advice but also offering a shoulder to lean on.

Lisa shared a touching moment when the trainee confided in her about her struggles. The trainee expressed her desire to dance like Lisa but felt inadequate. Lisa's response was simple yet profound: “Keep practising.”

Fans, known as BLINKs, have praised Lisa for her kindness and dedication to helping her juniors. This isn’t the first time Lisa has shown her nurturing side; she also demonstrated her mentoring skills as a mentor on the show "Youth With You 3."

Lisa's journey from a trainee to a global superstar and mentor illustrates her resilience and generosity. She is a role model for future K-Pop stars, showing that success comes with hard work and the willingness to support others along the way.
