In a statement shared by Istana Negara on their Facebook page, The King also expressed his joy and pride as the outstanding victory has raised Malaysia's name on the global stage.
“His Majesty hopes that his achievement will also be a source of inspiration to all Malaysians to work hard and strive to achieve success in their respective fields,” it said.
The 22-year-old put on arguably the performance of his life to stun last year’s winner Viktor Axelsen in the closely-contested final, winning 30-29, 22-20, 21-9.
