We all know about KL’s crazy flash floods yesterday evening (September 10th), with waters rising up to 1.5 meters in some areas.
Thankfully, not all of us were caught up in it, but here are some pictures and videos from those who were close to the scene…
Malaysians were left puzzled as to why things got so bad, especially since we have the SMART Tunnel, which was supposed to be the solution to the problem in the first place.
For now, the SMART Tunnel has been closed off to enable the activation of the flood system and releasing of flood water into its reservoir system.

The Federal Territories Ministry has assured that it will study the cause of the floods and find a long-term solution to prevent the incident from recurring.
Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said he would request a report from the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) on the capabilities of the existing irrigation and mitigation system.
“I want to see if the large flow of water is related to the areas being developed. A study needs to be done to enable DBKL to see the implementation of a long-term plan,” he said.
Annuar also pointed out that the volume of rainfall yesterday was more than usual and did not match the existing drainage system and it was seen as the cause of the incident.
We hope that all those affected by yesterday’s floods will be able to bounce back sooner rather than later!
